I recognized the album cover of “Devil is Fine” straight away ! I heard about it when it came out (just like I had heard of Deafhaven’s “Sunbather”) but only superficially listened to it. I’m not really into Black Metal, but when I do, I prefer the atmospheric bands or Folk/Pagan Metal. But… This mixture of Black Metal and African-American spirituals does seem interesting. I’ll take a deeper listen to this band

The Virtuoso album from Joe Pass and a massive dose of Alice in Chains, especially Dirt. The latter never does any good for my mood, but I am infatuated with Layne’s voice and the sincere glimpse he gave us into his darkest. I never liked the grunge bands, but early Alice is something different. I dunno what it is about those songs that makes feeling like shit worth it.
